Description
Raboso is a native red wine from the province of Treviso, in Veneto, Italy. The colour is a deep ruby red tending toward garnet. The bouquet is characterised by notes of sour cherry and wild blackberry, with a vinous note. The flavour is strongly tannic, robust and pleasantly sweet in vintage wines. The alcohol content is 12°. In its youth it pairs well with Italian-style starters and rich meats, while when aged it matches beautifully with furred game and grilled red meats. The ideal serving temperature is between 14° and 16°C.
History & legends
This is a wine with a long history. According to legend, it was Napoleon Bonaparte's favourite wine. It has also been mentioned in several literary works, including Alessandro Manzoni's The Betrothed.
