History & legends

One of the most fascinating stories concerns Livia Drusilla, wife of Emperor Augustus, who is said to have been a great lover of Prosecco, or a wine very similar to it. Legend has it that Livia drank this wine to enjoy a long life, believing it had beneficial properties. Some historians argue that the tradition of cultivating Glera grapes and producing this type of wine may have originated in that very period.
